President Chuck DeGooyer opened the meeting at Clover Island Inn. Bill Kendrick and Joan Osborne greeted members, Bob Kelly gave the innovation and Tom Moak was facilitator. Glen Reiboldt led us in song.

Welcome Home: Bill Kendrick and Joan Osborne returned home from their winter stay to Palm Springs. Nice to see you at today’s meeting.
Secretary Report: Maureen Bell reported the board approved membership for 2 new members: Phyllis Koschik and Eva Koschik. The following Project Proposal were approved: Service Excellence: $250 for Amistad’s Garden Project. In the past, parents have participated. Approved $1500 for Amistad field trips. Jog-a-Thon profits--$1696.40 will be spent first before spending the $1500. Community Service Committee: approved club members to donate ham for Easter to the Food Bank. Also $1000 to Habitat for Humanity to purchase flooring for a home being built in the Amistad School service area.
President Chuck will be naming the 2017-18 Nomination and Election Committees.
Inter-Club: An interclub has been scheduled for March 14, 2018, Division Council. Cyndi Kittson,
Don Johnstone, Bill Kendrick, Joan Osborne, Rick Corson, Gloria Seeley agreed to attend. A second interclub is scheduled for HHH on March 19th. No one volunteered to attend at this time.
Meet & Greet: Chuck and Michelle DeGooyer will host this event Tuesday, April 3rd at 6:00-8:00 p.m. Members, please invite someone to attend this event with you. Newly installed club members will be invited to attend this meeting to learn more about Kiwanis.

Youth Service/YCPO Committee: this committee met after today’s meeting.
Program Facilitators: Cory Manley is looking for members to facilitate programs for July and August meetings.
Community Service Committee: Audrey Manley announced this committee is collecting hams for Easter for the Food Bank. She will also take your monetary collection and purchase hams for you.

Program: March facilitator, Amy Coffman, introduced Jenna Kochaneaur, KONA 610 AM morning news anchor. Jenna shared with members how social media can be used to promote one’s business. Using social media one can communicate almost immediately and get feedback from the public. Social media is a value tool to promote our club. She encouraged our members to use Facebook, Twitter and other media to post pictures and videos with selfies getting more coverage and attraction. Members can share pictures and tell why they like Kiwanis and invite your social media friends to attend a meeting. Friends tag friends and the news travels.
